# Layer MCP Server

> All of Layer, inside your agent. Connect any MCP client to Layer in under a minute and generate images, video, 3D, and audio with 301+ models.

Server URL: `https://mcp.app.layer.ai/mcp` (Streamable HTTP)
Authentication: OAuth with your Layer account, or a Personal Access Token where OAuth is unsupported. No API key required.

## Supported Clients

Claude (web, desktop, Claude Code), Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Zed, Warp, Gemini CLI, Amp, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Hermes, and Manus have dedicated setup instructions. Any other MCP client can connect through the `mcp-remote` bridge.

## Capabilities

- **Images** — icons, key art, characters, environments, and UI, in batches or on transparent backgrounds.
- **Video** — animate existing art or generate clips from a prompt, then assemble and render multi-shot timelines.
- **3D** — generate production-ready 3D models from a prompt or a reference image.
- **Audio** — SFX, ambience, and music beds alongside the visuals.

- **Models** (3 tools) — Discover which generative models your workspace can use, and get recommendations for a task.
- **Forge** (3 tools) — Run a single model directly with full control over its parameters.
- **Workflows** (5 tools) — Execute the multi-step pipelines your team built in the Blueprint editor.
- **Video timeline** (3 tools) — Assemble and render multi-shot video timelines from generated clips.
- **Files** (2 tools) — Upload local files or public URLs to use as references and inputs.
- **Workspaces** (2 tools) — List and inspect the Layer workspaces you belong to, including Creative Unit balance.
- **Instructions** (3 tools) — Platform guidance the agent reads first, so it uses the rest of the toolset correctly.

## Billing

Generations through MCP consume Creative Units from your workspace balance, exactly as in the Layer app. There is no separate MCP charge and no extra per-seat cost. Every generation tool has a matching estimate tool, so an agent can price a job before running it. Generation is rate limited to 60 requests per minute per user, plus 30 per minute for video.
